Just yesterday during our InvestCubator research meeting, we made our InvestCubators pour through stock by stock listed in the Singapore Stock Exchange.
The initial reaction is... "Hey.... isn't there screeners? Isn't there a more efficient way to do this?"
Granted, there are screeners and list of stock available, but the idea is to build a character that investors should have... the discipline to read.
Take it from Buffett who reads 500 pages everyday. But think about it, he only buys stocks a few times in a year. What this means is that he probably read through many annual reports that are not investment-worthy, but was it consider a waste of his time if he spent time to read 500 pages of investments which he chose not to invest in?
In my opinion, I don't think so. Quoting a fitness instructor, "The only lousy workout is the workout we didn't do", let me map this over to investment research, "The only lousy investment research is the research we didn't do"
So, investment takes discipline, it takes character, but the returns are many many fold!
Have fun reading!
